This project was a collaboration with Emirati artist Amal Al Guru to create beautiful raw silk fabric wraps inspired by Arabic calligraphy. This art form requires focus and patience, with dots used to measure the height and width of each letter, guiding the flow of the script.
Contrary to popular belief, Arabic calligraphy is a slow, deliberate practice where every movement matters. The varying sizes of dots and lines in the design create a whimsical and dynamic aesthetic, celebrating the intricacies of this rich artistic tradition. To introduce these wraps, we also collaborated with Dr. Azra, who created henna designs inspired by our work!
